RS Budownictwo is a highly specialized contractor for apartment complexes. They are responsible for the construction of the Jagiellonian Apartments, five modern multi-floor apartments in Bialystok, Poland. For the third building, in a ground-floor commercial service area, they were looking for innovative screed solutions that would be less time and labor intensive but also would meet highest quality standards. The ready-mix concrete supplier of the project, RAK-BUD, was happy to present the screed concrete equipped designed and produced with the newest Technology for SLS, which they have been developing and testing with Master Builders Solutions.

Despite the considerable amount of time and skilled labor required, the traditional dry mix screed method still dominates the market. The experts of Master Builders Solutions were searching for a self-levelling screed that supersedes traditional methods. The came up with a full set of chemical products comprising the unique superplasticizer MasterEase, which provides superior concrete rheology, the novel shrinkage controlling product MasterLife SLS 200, the high performance micro polypropylene fibers of the MasterFiber series and the MasterKure curing compounds. “Using the screed concrete with the innovative Technology for SLS by Master Builders Solutions we are entering a completely new market”, Radosław Raczkowski explains. In addition, the application of the concrete containing the Technology for SLS by Master Builders Solutions does neither require additional space on the job-site nor extensive hands-on levelling of the top layer or additional sealing. Adam Sawicki, Contract Director Jagiellonian Apartments, RS Budownictwo, sees the main advantage in the faster drying time that enabled a rapid entry for the finishing work already on the second day. "This speeds up the whole construction process and will help us a lot to cope with tight time schedules“, he points out.

The screed concrete produced with the Technology for SLS by Master Builders Solutions allows fast construction progress. It gives the concrete an optimal flowability and prolonged workability. “Therefore, less placing labor is required and at the same time the quality of the surfaces is improved”, explains Tomasz Moskal, Sales Manager Admixture Systems Poland at Master Builders Solutions. It takes five workers to lay 100 to 150 square meters within one day when using a traditional dry screed mix, whereas with the Technology for SLS by Master Builders Solutions, only three workers can cover 1,000 square meters surface. In addition to that, the binder content in the concrete mixture has been optimized and the thickness reduced, lowering the overall CO2 footprint per square meter by 20% when compared to traditional screeds.
